CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENTS / REMINDER OF VITAL MEETING APRIL 23rd!
Greetings Local 47 colleagues!,
Don’t forget about the absolutely vital Local 47 membership meeting
on April 23rd at LOCAL 47. We expect the RMA elites will be called out to
try to shut down the rank and file voice by raising the quorum to 170. They cannot be allowed to succeed.
Further, all of us by now have seen Hal’s email about New Era Scoring
and Core Status.. We will fill you in on all the info concerning CORE STATUS
and NEW ERA SCORING, but we can’t help but laugh at Hal’s blatant hypocrisy.
While core status is not something that is desirable for anyone who
wants to retain their voice in our local’s future, it IS a legal alternative. Hal wasted NO time complaining about core status.
Yet neither he nor anyone else from his administration has said
word one about the RMA ELITE’s illegal Professional Musicians
Guild, a group that poses a true threat to our Local, and the deepening
and strengthening of the already destructive monopoly that has been
the source of so much of the damage to the recording industry here in
Los Angeles.
In fact, Hal, admitting at a recent conference that someone on the hearing board
(That would be Marc Sazer.) is a member of the guild, actually had the gall to
DEFEND THE GUILD and, adding grave insult to injury, said he would not take action
against guild members unless forced to by the National AFM!
Letters sent to the officers and board asking what they’re doing about this guild have gone unanswered, and now we know why. Certainly, Marc Sazer isn’t the only one within the Local’s infrastructure who are now members of this GUILD, and we certainly cannot count on this administration to lift a finger to stop it. They have shown their cards, and those cards are squarely in the corner of the RMA elite, NOT the rank and file.
As a dues paying member of this Local, are you going to let this stand?
Be at the April 23rd meeting and protect the members’ voice from this growing threat.
UNTIL NEXT TIME
